Dr. Lucius (Luke) Lampton is medical director for the Compassus program serving McComb, Mississippi. He specializes in family medicine in multiple settings: clinic, hospital, nursing homes, geri-psych, long-term acute care and hospice.

Lampton is a clinical associate professor at Tulane University School of Medicine and William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine and is part of the clinical faculty for the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He helped establish and serves on the commissions overseeing the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship Program and the Office of Mississippi Physician Workforce.

Mississippi’s 2013 Family Physician of the Year is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and has served as chairman of the Mississippi State Board of Health for more than a decade. For his leadership in continuing to raise industry benchmarks for quality hospice care, Lampton received the R. Sean Morrison, MD Award for Outstanding Achievement in Hospice Physician Leadership in 2012.

Lampton has served as editor of the Journal of the Mississippi State Medical Association for more than two decades, receiving national awards for excellence. He has also contributed a chapter to leading primary care text Conn’s Current Therapy. His work has been featured on televised programs such as BBC, History Channel, C-SPAN, Mississippi ETV and Turner South.
