Dr. Phillip (Phil) Peterson is medical director for the Compassus program serving Princeton, West Virginia. He is also medical director for several home health and hospice facilities in the Princeton area and a geriatrician with TeamHealth. He has been practicing for more than 20 years.

Peterson is board certified in geriatric medicine, family medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. He obtained his bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Iowa and completed his family practice residency at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he became chief resident. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, American Medical Directors Association and American Geriatric Society, and he is a fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. In 2017, Peterson participated in a mission trip to support Living Hope, Compassus’ sister hospice program in Cape Town, South Africa.
