Dr. Gregory James is the senior medical director for Complex Care Management at Optum for the central and southeast regions of the U.S. He is responsible for the post-acute and long-term care patients enrolled in UnitedHealthcare plans in nine states. Previously, he served as senior medical director for Complex Care Management for the state of Florida.
For the past 15 years, James has served the American Osteopathic Association as a Florida Trustee to the Annual House of Delegates. He is a Distinguished Fellow for the National American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and has been selected as the Educator of the Year by the organization. In addition, he served as the 2013 president of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, representing the state’s nearly 6,000 osteopathic physicians.
James received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and his Master of Public Health from the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He completed his residency in family medicine at Sun Coast Hospital in Largo, Florida. James is board certified and recertified in family medicine and geriatrics by the American Osteopathic Association and in post-acute and long-term care by the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (ABPLM).
