Dr. Daniela Lamas is a pulmonary and critical care doctor at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and serves on the faculty at Harvard Medical School.

In her recent book, “You Can Stop Humming Now: A Doctor’s Stories of Life, Death and In Between,” Lamas examines the thin border between life and death through real stories of patients whose lives were saved by modern medical technology.

Lamas has worked as a medical reporter at the Miami Herald and is frequently published in The New York Times. She writes about modern issues in medicine using real-life stories and showing a great deal of compassion for her patients. Lamas has also researched many aspects of medicine, from the current challenges of electronic health record systems to chronic critical illnesses and death. Her work has been published in influential medical journals.

Following graduation from Harvard College, Lamas earned her medical degree at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she also completed her internship and residency.
